"Okay, I'm officially saying it...Kat Ellis is the photographer version of the Harlem Globetrotters! She can twist, turn, jump, pivot, sway and breakdance all while holding her camera and getting a GREAT shot every time. " Robert Rankin Walker / Heyday Productions
*****************************
Coming from the south bay area of southern California, Kat has lived in the Temecula Valley area since 1988. During this time she has seen the area grow in the number of wineries and musical talent.
With her love of music, a major in photography along with a background in event coordinating, marketing, graphics, and publishing, it was only natural that Kat start her own promotional business El-Ey Promotional. She has been considered for several years as the "go-to" gal for many southern California bands and musicians for photography, promotional material, and job placement. Kat finds herself frequently on the road photographing people and places... or wherever the music takes her.
Kat has been a speaker on several music panels, including the Indie Entertainment Summit held in North Hollywood, and on the "New Artist Marketing" panel at the L.A. Rock n Roll Conference held at the House of Blues in Hollywood. She has been affiliated with many music organizations, most notably with LAWIM (Los Angeles Women in Music), Temecula Valley Music Awards, Your Music Out Loud International Songwriting Contest, 411Gina Missing Persons songwriting contest, and the formation of the Temecula Valley chapter of Balanced Breakfast music meetup group, plus many others. She's also a member of the Temecula Valley Wine Society. Away from the music and photography scene, Kat is also the co-owner of Sassy Mamas Mustards in Temecula, and her own clothing line "Get Sassy."
She is also an Associate Artist at the Dorland Art Colony. Her photos have been used in various music artist profiles, and her fine art photography has been used in several publications and websites. Kat's video "Music Through My Eyes" and photo album "God Through My Eyes" can be seen on this website.
Several years ago Kat came up with a new idea to help promote her love of the Temecula Valley by showcasing the talented musicians in the area and pair their music to wines from many of the local award winning wineries. Her idea finally came to a
reality in 2013 with the formation of the Talk Radio show “Chords and Vines" broadcasting on her own network TEN-The Temecula Entertainment Network. With that success Chords and Vines has now expanded to include musicians from outside the Temecula Valley are including nationally known headliners.
What's Being Said
“Kat has photographed our most important events. Her work is truly professional and creative. She is also totally dependable, trustworthy and goes above and beyond to make the project all it can be and more. We have become very good friends and I hope to work with her as often as possible.” ---Judy Lamppu, Vice President, COSMO Coalition of Songwriter & Music Organizations
"I have seen the imagery and life that Kat brings out in each snap of the camera that they are of a quality up there with the best of them. No doubt when she retires, she'll have her own museum to show the world a reminder that there is a connection between the eye and the camera lens where in between, a photograph has to have a soul behind it." --- Pavel Sfera (musician)
"Kat...Awesome photography Great shots from the Marshal Tucker Band gig! You have a great eye. You rock Girl! --- Billy Yates (Outlaws)
